"Butterfly Vision" - by Barbara Lee Donovan is a mixed media piece comprised of watercolor and acrylic on Strathmore 400 series watercolor paper to add to the intense texture.
The work is the first of two created to be viewed side by side.
My inspiration comes from always liking close up paintings of flowers in detail and seeing how the two medias would combine on the very textured paper.
As you view the painting you are drawn into the alien like center astounded by the bright colors and focus on the brushstrokes of the petals that fan outward like that of a bird's wing. Unsure of where to look first, the eye starts at the bottom then center and upward to the right then left. Try to imagine a butterfly's vision. If a flower's color is as pretty as they are themselves then they would either be envious or jealous.
