"Further Down the Beach"- by Barbara Lee Donovan is another earlier work created using acrylic resin on Strathmore 400 series watercolor paper for an added texture effect. As I began to complete this work I had already built up a story behind the piece. My inspiration is from the moments when I am alone and the house is quiet and it's dark except the light using to see the painting and your mind starts to wander and maybe I shouldn't have watched that scary movie on TV earlier? You get the idea. This piece is the second part of the Ghost Sailboat series in which you picture yourself amongst the coconut tree groves yet you are curious as to what is further down the beach around the bend and out of your site. Perhaps a tropical ocean side oasis of a vacation getaway, or perhaps something more ominous waiting for you to find out and hidden in the lush coconut trees.
